Tour the Museum

The Conrad Mansion offers educational and entertaining tours of the twenty-six room building year-round.

Docent (tour guide) led tours offer a deep dive into the Conrad Family’s history. Learn fascinating facts about the Mansion’s nooks and crannies as well as the Conrad family’s impact on Montana history.

Docent-guided tours are limited to 40 people per group and last about 1.5 hours.

Self-Guided tours are ideal for those on a time crunch or who prefer to learn at their own pace. Spend a few minutes or a whole afternoon exploring this beautiful and innovative Victorian home.

* The Conrad Mansion does not have an elevator and is not wheelchair accessible.

The Conrad Mansion will be CLOSED to the public for holiday decorating.

Open Wednesday – Sunday.

Docent-Guided Tours will be offered at 10am & 12pm

Self-Guided Tours will be offered from 1pm-4pm.

School Tours & Field Trips

The Conrad Mansion offers educational history tours for all grades from January 15-October 15.

To schedule a school field trip please call 406-755-2166.

Notes on scheduling a field trip: Field trips require a minimum of 10 children (k-12th grade) and a maximum of 22 children per group.
There is a maximum of two adult chaperones per field trip group. All field trips must be scheduled 14 days in advance. Field trips can only be scheduled between January 15-October 15.

The Conrad Mansion is a recipient of Flathead Electric Cooperative’s Community Education Grant for its educational history tours:

From in 2023-2027, educational history tours will be FREE for all students and teachers on a scheduled field trip.

*Flathead Electric Cooperative’s Community Education Grants are funded by unclaimed capital credits. “Capital credits” refers to the money not-for-profit Flathead Electric Cooperative returns to its members when it brings in more revenue than is needed to operate. Some of those capital credits go unclaimed, usually because members move away without updating their mailing addresses. When capital credits go unclaimed for five years or more, Montana law allows that money be used for educational purposes, such as supporting the Conrad Mansion’s educational history tours

Group Tours

The Conrad Mansion offers a private group rate to parties that exceed twenty people. Group tours and the group tour rate only apply to parties that have scheduled their private tour at least 48-hours ahead of time.

Museum Rules

No food, beverage, or flash photography allowed inside the Conrad Mansion. Phones must be turned off during tour. We accept cash and credit cards.

The grounds and gardens are free and accessible to the public-year round. Please stay on designated walkways and lawns and do not climb on the rock walls.

SPECIAL TOURS

In addition to regular season tours, the Conrad Mansion offers several special tours and events throughout the year.

Lettie Conrad and The Wild West Tour

The Lettie Conrad tour honors Kalispell’s Founding Mother Lettie Conrad. The story of Charles Conrad has been well-told by Kalispell locals and visitors since the 1890s. Mr. Conrad’s adventures and accomplishments echo through to this day as we live and work in the town he helped found. But, as the old saying goes, “behind every great man, there’s a woman,” and this special tour tells that story. Learn about an Edwardian woman’s life in Montana while touring through the Mansion’s twenty-six rooms.

The Conrads at Play

Dress for Sports and Recreation, 1880s-1960’s

By the time, the Conrad family moved into this house, recreational activities and sports were a popular way for people to spend their leisure time.

The Conrads at Play historical clothing exhibit will be on display throughout 2023.

For an in-depth tour, join volunteer curator of textiles, Teresa Knutson on a tour through the Conrad Mansion where she will explain the clothing in detail.

After the tour, guests will have a Q&A with Teresa in the Great Hall.
